About Patrick Atkinson

Based in Minneapolis, Patrick Atkinson serves as the international executive director of The GOD’S CHILD Project and oversees initiatives worldwide that address extreme poverty, human trafficking, conflict, and post-war reconstruction. Through The GOD’S CHILD Project (GCP), Patrick Atkinson guides a nonprofit that provides care and education to more than 5,000 children who have been abandoned or orphaned, as well as mothers raising families in significant poverty.

GCP’s assistance in countries such as Guatemala, India, and Malawi takes the form of developmental-skills training, education, medical treatment, and legal aid. Moreover, Atkinson is the consulting director for the GCP-supported La Asociacion Nuestros Ahijados (ANA), a Central American organization that has the informal name El Proyecto (The Project). Facilities maintained by GCP and ANA include the Bob and Joan Scheel Academic and Vocational Training Center, the Santa Madre Homeless Shelter, and the Casa Jackson Hospital for Malnourished Children. A coordinator the work of volunteers through the International ServiceTeam Experience, ANA also serves as a regional base for the Institute for Trafficked, Exploited & Missing Persons.

A prolific author, Atkinson’s latest work, Message for My Child, has been translated into 13 languages, and the book has sold 3.5 million copies in poster and book form. The text is also within the Republic of India’s formal English curriculum.
